The Upper Nile Times - Somalia's fearful Al Qaeda linked Islamist, the Al Shabaab have said to have executed three foreign nationals it accused of providing information to CIA and British's MI6.
The trio were killed in an open public view in firing squad while children and women were invited to watch the event as it unfolds.
Two of the three men were alleged by al-shabaab to have directed US drones in Somalia to kill leaders of Al Shabaab and other Islamists. A charge the two strongly denied blaming the Al Shabaab leadership for their singling out.
The Al Shabaab Judge, Sheikh Abdi Haq said the trio were executed because they masterminded the killing of Al Shabaab leader Bilaal Berjawi killed by US drones in January this year and their active involvement in the West's fight against terrorism around the world.
The trio namely Yasin Osman Ahmed, Omar Hassan, Mukhtar Ibrahim Sheikh Ahmed aged 23, 22 and 33 respectively are members of Al Shabaab but due to their fallout with the group, the group see them as enemy, according to the experts Upper Nile Times spoke to.
Al Shabaab is facing threats from southern and western parts of Somalia as Kenyan army continues to sought their locations while African Union and Ethiopian armies are combining to route the islamists out of the war-torn country. The group have been dislodged from most parts of the country it controlled and some of the members are said to have escaped to Yemen.
